Robert Virding was part of the team that first created Erlang at Ericson. Today he works for Erlang Solutions and in his spare time likes to implement other languages to run on the Erlang VM. So far he has created implementations of Prolog, Lisp and Lua that can run in the Erlang VM. We will talk about that and more.

014 Mega Core with Kevin Hammond

We currently have CPU’s with 6 cores on our desks, and 12-16 on our servers. However more are coming soon! It won’t be that long until we have to think about not 16 cores but 1024 or 4096 or more. The Release Project is a research project funded by the EU to figure out how to work with these new systems. We are Joined by Professor Kevin Hammond of the University Of St Andrews in Scotland to talk about it. Professor Hammond works on this topic and will talk about how we are thinking we will solve this problem.
